Route 31 Shutdown Starts Saturday
Expect delays as crews complete railroad crossing repairs.

MONTGOMERY, IL — Route 31 (Lake Street) in Montgomery will close for railroad crossing repairs starting Saturday, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. Weather permitting, a complete closing on Route 31 at the Burlington Junction Railway tracks north of Aucutt Road will start at 9 a.m. July 15.
A posted detour will direct northbound Route 31 traffic west on Aucutt Road, north on Orchard Road (County Highway 83) and east on Jericho Road to meet back with Lake Street/Route 31. Southbound Route 31 traffic will take the reverse route, according to IDOT.
The repairs will take about a week, with completion expected by 7 a.m. Sunday, July 23. In the meantime, drivers should expect delays and allow extra time for trips.
