Volunteer For The Montgomery Cemetery Walk, Oct. 4

MONTGOMERY, IL — It's almost time for the ninth annual Cemetery Walk in Riverside Cemetery in Montgomery, which is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It's not meant to scare people, but to teach visitors a bit of history.

This year's event will feature local "ghosts," including a local artist, Kendall County Now reported, as well as the first village president and others. Tours begin near the corner of River Street and Taylor Street on the south side of the cemetery.

The free event is organized by the Historic Preservation Commission of Montgomery. They're looking for volunteers to help guide groups through the cemetery.

Parking is available along River Street and at the playground at the north end of Montgomery Park, according to Kendall County Now. Tours will leave about every 10 minutes, so you can arrive any time between the beginning and end of the event.

A rain date is set for Thursday, Oct. 5 at the same time. On Oct. 10, an indoor reenactment of the Walk will be held at the Montgomery Village Hall Board Room for the Senior Program.
