$100K In Diversity Grants Available From Nicor Gas
Nicor Gas has dedicated $100,000 to help support local groups and nonprofits that advocate for people who have experienced diversity.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Nicor Gas recently dedicated more than $100,000 in grant money to help local nonprofits and organizations in their efforts to combat discrimination and embrace diversity.
Grant applications open April 1, with a maximum grant of up to $5,000 available. To be eligible, organizations must be a 501(c)(3) that is tax exempt with the Internal Revenue Service.
"We know the important role that diversity and inclusion plays in creating stronger communities and we are committed to supporting organizations and programs that provide education and access to resources for under-served and under-represented individuals," Jackie Nagel, manager of Community Engagement at Nicor Gas, said in a news release.

Last year's diversity grants were awarded to help the following initiatives:
- Naperville Neighbors United sponsoring the Juneteenth Celebration at Rotary Hill
- Midwestern University providing dental care for veterans who are homeless, income insecure or underinsured
- CREO DuPage providing programming for Latinx children, along with college applicants and their parents
- YWCA Metropolitan Chicago's Career Pathways Program, which helps people of color and women get access to better employment opportunities

Nicor's Diversity Grants are part of the Naperville-based company's charitable initiatives, which have included helping electric customers in need at the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
