2 Arrested After Friday's Protests In Naperville: Police

Police say Anthony Cabeza and Ashton Thomas, both 20, were charged with criminal defacement of public property.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Two people were arrested in Naperville Friday after the afternoon's protest broke up, according to police. Anthony Cabeza and Ashton Thomas, both 20, were charged with criminal defacement of public property in connection with the incident.

Police say the incident took place following a protest of about 200 people that started near Centennial Beach. As the protest continued downtown, police say they "developed reliable information that some members of the downtown protest group intended to commit criminal acts in the downtown."

Police lines were set up to help with crowd control and ensure the safety of protesters as they walkled in the middle of the downtown streets. Police say they issued an order to disperse after some protesters said they would try to break through the police lines.
