2 Men Plead Guilty in Connection to Naperville Gambling Ring

Two men arrested in connection to a Naperville gambling ring have pleaded guilty.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Michael J. Lemberger, 40, of the 800 block of Pas Court in Naperville and Daniel B. Wandling, 30, of the 1600 block of North Bosworth Avenue in Chicago, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of gambling.

Lemberger and Wandling both received one year of court supervision and must pay $300 each in fines and legal costs.

Naperville police arrested 13 people in August after a five-month long investigation into an illegal gambling ring, according to a release from the Naperville Police Department.

Investigators served search warrants during the evening of Aug. 19 at 1163 E. Ogden Ave. Suite 505. The business previously operated as a pain clinic. Police seized approximately $25,000, gambling evidence, a 2011 Porsche Panamera, a 2014 E63 AMG Mercedes and a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan.

Outside of Lemberger and Wandling, the following people have been charged:

• Vu Trong Hoang, 36 of Chicago, charged with gambling and unlawful possession of controlled substance, class 4 felony
• Aki Nakagawa, 33 of Chicago, charged with gambling and unlawful possession of controlled substance, class 4 felony
• Kevin L. Janowiak, 53 of Mount Prospect, charged with gambling and unlawful possession of controlled substance, class 4 felony
• Philip L. Nguyen, 43 of Naperville, charged with gambling and unlawful possession of controlled substance, class 4 felony
• David A. Mirshak, 37 of Belvidere, charged with gambling, class A misdemeanor
• Ioannis T. Tsombanidis, 59 of Scottsdale, AZ, charged with gambling, class A misdemeanor
• William F. Gutzman, 33 of Bensenville, charged with gambling, class A misdemeanor
• Lawrence P. Costigan, 50 of Palatine, charged with gambling, class A misdemeanor
• Julian R. Lukban, 40 of Chicago, charged with gambling, class A misdemeanor
• Asad Yusuf, 42, of Naperville, charged with a warrant arrest for failure to appear (traffic)
• Amber Ray Lawhead, 33 of Cortland IL, charged with gambling, (city ordinance)
