2 Naperville Photographers Win Chicago Zoological Society Contest

Tricia Rangel and Joseph Andalina, both of Naperville, earned nods in the 2022 Chicago Zoological Society Photography Contest.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Two Naperville-based photographers recently earned recognition from the Chicago Zoological Society for its 2022 photography contest.

Tricia Rangel was awarded first place in the reptile, amphibian, invertebrate and fish categories for her photograph of a bee and a butterfly on a bright orange flower. Joseph Andalina earned third place in the bird category for a photograph he took of an owl nestled in a pine tree.

Over 700 photo entries were evaluated by professional photographers to help choose the contest's winners. Once the top five entries in each category were chosen, members of the public weighed in to select the winners, casting over 6,000 votes.

The winning photographs will be featured on the Chicago Zoological Society website and displayed on monitors at locations throughout Brookfield Zoo. Some of the top photos will be incorporated into a mosaic that will be featured at Brookfield Zoo's Café de Sol Plaza
