2 Naperville Students Named 2023 Presidential Scholars
The students were among just three from Illinois chosen to receive the prestigious distinction.
NAPERVILLE, IL — Two Students from Naperville were recently selected to be U.S. Presidential Scholars. Only three students from Illinois were chosen to receive the distinction based on their SAT and ACT scores, academic records and community engagement.
The 2023 Presidential Scholars from Naperville are:
- Maxwell L. Neri, who attends Waubonsie Valley High School
- Yina Wang, who attends the Illinois Math and Science Academy
Neri was designated as a Scholar in Career and Technical Education.

Evanston Township High School Senior Emmet Ebels-Duggan was also named a Presidential Scholar.
Founded in 1964, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was initially created to honor students who excelled in creative and performing arts. The program was expanded in 2015 to include standout students in career and technical fields.
