After 1 Year Missing, Family Cat Found Safe In Naperville

Remy went missing in May 2017, but he was reunited with his family nearly a year later.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville family got the surprise of their life when Animal Control called to tell them they found the big-eyed tabby cat that belonged to them. Remy had been missing since 2017, but his microchip reunited him with his forever family nearly a year after his disappearance.

Naperville Police say Remy was found by a resident who alerted Animal Control and started the process of getting Remy back home safe and sound. A staff member processed his microchip and it matched up with a report of a lost animal from 2017.

Police used the story as an opportunity to stress the importance of microchipping your pet. They wrote, "The moral: Never give up & always keep your pet's chip info up to date!"

There's no way to know where Remy adventured while he was gone, but one thing is for certain. He's one happy tabby right now.
