There were no reported injuries to firefighters or citizens.

Naperville, IL — All residents of an apartment building in the 800 block of Pomeroon Ave. were relocated after utilities were shut off due to a fire damaging a gas line.
Naperville firefighters were called at around 1:56 p.m. for the Sunday afternoon blaze. Arriving crews noticed nothing showing from the 20-unit apartment building, but soon detected an odor of smoke upon entering the building, according to Naperville Fire Department Bureau Chief Amy Scheller.

“The engine officer immediately began a search for the source of the smoke and began to evacuate residents,” Scheller said. “Crews identified a small hidden fire between the second and third floor space of two apartments and upgraded the alarm to a general alarm structure fire response.”
The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes, Scheller said. Ceiling damage was reported in a second floor apartment, along with floor damage in a third floor unit. No damage was reported to any additional units, but a damaged gas line resulted in a shutdown of utilities.
