Naperville Educator Chosen As State PE Teacher Of The Year

Teacher Kimberly Blitek was recently honored by the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Kingsley Elementary School physical education teacher Kimberly Blitek was recently named the state's Elementary School PE Teacher of the Year by the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (IAHPERD).

The award recognizes standout teaching in physical education, with recipients chosen based on their experience and "outstanding instructional performance," according to the IAHPERD website.

Blitek began her time at Kingsley Elementary in 204. Her work there includes planning Field Day and heading up the school's Cardio Club. She also helped launch a Peer Buddies Program that pairs fifth-grade students with students in the school's special education program for mentoring.

“Kim brings joy to students each day through her creative, hardworking, and energetic spirit," Kingsley Elementary Principal Traci Furbee said in a statement.

District 203 Superintendent Dan Bridges praised Blitek's "innovative spirit and dedication to inclusivity."

He said, "She fosters a 'learner’s mindset' that prepares students for growth both inside and outside the classroom. Her passion for excellence and student well-being makes her truly deserving of this statewide honor."
