The DuPage Symphony Orchestra (DSO) has once again been selected to participate in the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read programming, marking the second consecutive year the organization has received this prestigious national designation. The DSO is one of just 71 organizations nationwide selected for the 2026-2027 program cycle.
The NEA Big Read, administered by Arts Midwest, brings communities together through literature, discussion, and creative programming. The 2026-2027 cycle centers on the theme America250, encouraging communities to explore the nation's history, culture, resilience, and shared stories through reading and the arts.
Building on the success of its 2025-2026 NEA Big Read initiative, the DuPage Symphony Orchestra will once again partner with libraries, schools, arts organizations, and community groups throughout DuPage County to create opportunities for learning, dialogue, and artistic engagement.
"We are honored to be selected for the National Endowment for the Arts Big Read for a second consecutive year," said Mari Ullrick, Strategic Director of Operations and Engagement for the DuPage Symphony Orchestra. "This recognition reflects the strength of our community partnerships and our commitment to creating accessible, meaningful cultural experiences that bring people together through music, literature, and shared conversation."
The DSO's selection continues the organization's growing role as a convener of community-centered arts programming. Through educational outreach, community partnerships, and innovative programming, the orchestra serves thousands of residents each year and continues to expand access to arts and cultural experiences throughout the region.
The award also reflects the orchestra's commitment to maximizing the impact of community investments in the arts. By leveraging partnerships, volunteer leadership, and collaborative programming, the DSO continues to create meaningful educational and cultural opportunities that strengthen connections across DuPage County and beyond.
Specific details regarding the DSO's 2026-2027 NEA Big Read programming, community partners, and featured events will be announced in the coming months.
