Police To Target Impaired, Distracted Drivers During Labor Day In Naperville

Naperville PD is one of 200 local law enforcement agencies taking part in a statewide traffic safety initiative leading up to Labor Day.

NAPERVILLE, IL — The Naperville Police Department will be out in full force as part of a traffic safety push leading up to Labor Day.

The safety campaign will bring an increased police presence patrolling for drivers who are speeding, driving impaired, violating seatbelt laws or committing other traffic infractions.

"Driving under the influence —whether it's alcohol, cannabis or any other impairing drug— is not just risky, it's illegal," Sergeant Eric Muska said in a statement.

He added, ""This enforcement campaign allows us to put even more officers on the road over the holiday weekend to patrol with zero tolerance for impaired driving.".

The safety initiative, which will conclude on Sept. 8, is part of the statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns.
