Police Investigate Report of Gunshots Friday Evening (positivelynaperville.com) β Naperville police are investigating a Friday night report of gunshots near the 600 block of South Route 59 by Aurora Avenue, where two vehicles reportedly exchanged fire before fleeing. Officers have located the vehicles and interviewed involved parties, and while the investigation remains active, police say those involved knew each other and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Naperville amends code to allow happy hour drink specials (nctv17.org) β Naperville's city council has lifted its long-standing ban on happy hour drink specials, allowing local bars and restaurants to offer limited-time discounts under strict state and city rules. With a 7 p.m. cutoff, caps on discount size, and requirements for advance public posting, officials and business leaders say the change should boost competitiveness while maintaining safety downtown.

3. Naperville plans ceremony, ruck march to commemorate Sept. 11 attacks (nctv17.org) β Naperville will mark the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11 with a morning 9/11 Memorial Ruck March from Safety Town and a Riverwalk ceremony at the Cmdr. Dan Shanower Memorial. Residents can join the three-mile walk, climb Moser Tower, or attend the late-afternoon program featuring music, a keynote from veteran and local resident Charles Lynn Lowder, and a Twin Towers lights display.

Benet Academy football hangs on for tight win over Leo (nctv17.org) β Benet Academy's tight 17-14 win over Leo is highlighted as part of coverage featured on Naperville Sports Weekly, which focuses on local prep sports. The Redwings built a big lead, survived a furious comeback, and improved to 2-1, giving Naperville-area fans another close, early-season football thriller to follow.
