Today's riddle: Why are crows so alert and curious? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Naperville D203 board to consider digital advertising program (chicagotribune.com) — Naperville District 203 is weighing a new digital advertising program on video boards at Naperville Central and Naperville North, with a vote set for Sept. 22. Local businesses could buy ad space, with revenue split between the schools' booster clubs to support student activities, while students gain hands-on experience in advertising and design under strict content guidelines.
2. Naper Pride Fest not happening this year, organizers say (chicagotribune.com) — Naper Pride Fest, usually held at Naper Settlement in Naperville each September, will not take place this year as organizers redirect funding to longer-term community initiatives. The group says the festival should return in the future and notes ongoing backlash to LGBTQ+ events, while other big Naperville celebrations like India Day and the Holiday Parade of Lights are also canceled for 2026.
3. Greek American Angelo Georgacopoulos Named Illinois Counselor of the Year (hellenicnews.com) — Naperville families can take pride in Naperville North counselor Angelo Georgacopoulos, who has been named the 2026 Illinois High School Counselor of the Year for his work supporting students' academics, mental health, and college planning. His initiatives, including the Career Takeover, International College Fair, and Healthy Huskie Takeover, reflect a commitment to whole-student development rooted in his Greek-American values of service and community.
4. Newly introduced Redhawk core values replace 'Be the 3' moniker (centraltimes.org) — Naperville Central students will see a major culture shift next school year as the school replaces its longtime "Be the 3" slogan with new Redhawk Core Values tied to each grade level. Inspired partly by Naperville North's #Driven campaign, staff and students crafted values around community, respect, excellence, and integrity to better define what it means to be a Redhawk.
