Jurors found him guilty after a three-day trial, and he now faces 45 years to life in prison, with local authorities praising Naperville police for quickly apprehending the suspect.
2. Public Safety Open House Set for Sept. 26 (positivelynaperville.com) — Naperville's Police and Fire Departments are hosting a free Public Safety Open House today, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Public Safety Campus on Aurora Avenue. Families can watch live demonstrations, explore vehicles and equipment, meet first responders, and pick up safety tips, with food trucks on-site for those who want to grab lunch during the event.
3. Lola's Handcrafted Churros opens Monday in downtown Naperville (nctv17.org) — Downtown Naperville is getting a new dessert spot as Lola's Handcrafted Churros opens Monday, Sept. 28, at 8 W. Jefferson Ave. The shop will serve creative churro flavors, sundaes, and drinks, and the owner says she chose Naperville for its energetic, community-focused downtown, making this their third location after Lisle and Yorkville.
4. Lennon's closes, but tacos, gyros and men's clothing coming to downtown Naperville (chicagotribune.com) — Downtown Naperville is seeing rapid change as Lennon's on Jefferson Avenue closes while Taco Grill Cantina, I Heart Gyro, SEE Eyewear, State & Liberty, and Lola's Handcrafted Churros prepare to open within weeks. Larger projects, including new restaurants at Block 59 and a major home-goods store at Westridge Court, will also shuffle existing retailers and add fresh dining and shopping options for residents.
5. New mahjong and champagne lounge to open in Naperville (nctv17.org) — A new mahjong and champagne lounge called Clink Mahjong Social is set to open at Naperville's 5th Avenue Station, with a grand opening planned for December 2026. The space will offer lessons, leagues, open play, and a boutique champagne bar, plus a studio and private event rentals, aiming to become a community hub for local game lovers.
