NAPERVILLE, IL — A death investigation temporarily halted trains and caused extensive delays early Tuesday near the Naperville station, according to several reports.
A Metra spokesperson told NBC Chicago that at around 4 a.m., a man's body was found about a mile east of the station, and that it was unclear how the man died since Metra did not have trains running in the area at that time.
According to ABC Chicago, Metra said the man's body was found on the tracks. The body was found near the intersection of Loomis Street and 5th Avenue, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Just before 5 a.m., Metra said inbound and outbound trains remained halted near Naperville due to police activity.
At just after 6:30 a.m., Metra said inbound and outbound train movement had been restored, but "extensive delays are anticipated," adding, " Some trains will be cancelled, operating out of sequence, and expressing."
Metra advised commuters to visit Metratracker.com to find the location of their train.
Tuesday's incident happened a day after an 18-year-old man was fatally struck by a train in Wheaton.
