April 10 Fly Fishing for Kankakee River Smallmouth Presentation

Bass Pro Shops Bolingbrook store kicks off its "Fly Fishing Isn't Just for Trout Anymore" free weekly classes April 10 at 7 p.m.

Captain Will Winans--who owns and runs Big River Fly Fishing, a guide service centered on smallmouth bass angling on the Kankakee River--will be the featured speaker Tuesday, April 10, at 7 p.m. at the Bass Pro Shops Bolingbrook store as it kicks off its fly fishing class program on the second and fourth Tuesday each month. The presentation is free and open to the public and will be in the store's second floor Conservation Room.

Just over an hour's drive from Chicago, through the cornfields of Illinois, runs a particularly scenic and well-preserved stretch of the Kankakee River. Will Winans of Big River Fly Fishing specializes in drift boat trips through this productive smallmouth bass fishery. Of the nearly 20 miles that Will guides, 11 are largely undeveloped, passing through the Kankakee River State Park.

Visit the Bass Pro Shops Bolingbrook store website for more information on its free fly fishing class schedule which will include fly tying workshops on Thursday nights and flyrod casting instruction on Saturdays.
