NAPERVILLE, IL — The Naperville Fire Department says an apartment building fire that displaced 18 adults and two children from their homes in the 700 block of Inland Circle was "suspicious in nature." The fire broke out just before 4 p.m. Thursday.

When fire crews got to the scene, they found an active fire in a first-floor unit apartment in the back of the building. The fire had spread to common hallways and an adjacent second-floor unit, but was put out within 30 minutes, fire officials said.

Six units in the apartment building were deemed uninhabitable after the fire and families were assisted by the Red Cross. No firefighters or residents were injured in the blaze.
