Basement Fire Displaces Family From Naperville Home

The fire broke out in the basement of a home in the 1600 block of North Gartner Road.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A family has been displaced from their home after a fire broke out in the basement early Tuesday. The incident took place in the 1600 block of North Gartner Road, according to an update from Naperville Fire Department Bureau Chief Jim Kubinski.

When fire crews got to the scene, they saw smoke coming from the front door of the home, Kubinski wrote. Fire crews were able to put out the blaze within 20 minutes, according to the press release, but remained on the scene to remove smoke that had spread throughout the home.

Representatives from the American Red Cross came to help the family with temporary lodging.
