Bicyclist Seriously Injured When Struck By Van: Police

Naperville police investigate crash where a van reportedly struck a bicyclist in an intersection Monday evening.

Naperville Police are investigating an accident that seriously injured a bicyclist who was struck by a van late Monday afternoon.

Police responded to the intersection of 75th Street and Modaff Road around 4:45 p.m.for a report of a vehicle striking a person on a bicycle.

When officers arrived a white 2009 Chevrolet Express Van and the bicyclist were in the intersection.

The seriously injured bicyclist was taken by the Naperville Fire Department to Edward Hospital.

The gender and age of the bicyclist were not immediately available.

Police said that a preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the Chevy van was westbound on 75th Street and the bicyclist was northbound crossing 75th Street at Modaff when the collision occurred.

Portions of 75th Street and Modaff Road were closed and rerouted until around 8:30 .m. Monday.
