BNSF Trains Stopped After Fire and 'Mechanical Problem'

VIDEO: Metra riders are reporting firefighters are dousing a train with water after trains have been halted this morning.

All inbound and outbound Metra trains on the BNSF line have been stopped this morning near Clarendon Hills.

Fire and police officials were called to assist with train number 1232. The train was scheduled to arrive at Chicago at 7:49 a.m. and has been stopped, according to an update at 8:43 a.m. on the Metra website.

Trains are presently delayed 15 to 80 minutes.

BNSF has dispatched extra equipment from Chicago to West Hinsdale to assist the train, which is experiencing a “mechanical problem.”

According to a tweet and video from @RauchJulie, firefighters were dousing the train with water.
