NAPERVILLE, IL — An Aurora man has been accused of stealing more than $21,000 in funds while he served as treasurer for a Boy Scout troop in Naperville.

John R. Miller, 59, of Breckenridge Circle, was charged with felony theft in connection with the incidents.

According to police, Miller wrote checks to himself and deposited cash from the account for Boy Scout Troop 1776 from May 2021 through November 2022. Police were alerted to the missing funds, which totaled $21,838, in February 2023 and Miller was arrested Tuesday.
