Bringing Home the Schmacon

An all-beef alternative to bacon created by a Naperville business owner claims to offer great taste and fewer calories.

NAPERVILLE, IL - There are few foods out there that people take as seriously as bacon. Even the mention of it can cause mouths to fill with drool.

And often there’s simply no replacing it. But a Naperville business owner may have found at least an alternative.

Schmacon “looks and smells as tantalizing as bacon, crisps up like bacon and cooks like bacon (in only a fraction of the time),” according to a press release.

Howard Bender, the inventor of Schmacon and CEO of Schmaltz Products, said that Schmacon is different, delicious and unlike else of the market.

“The taste and texture are incomparable,” Bender said in a press release. “Schmacon delivers what taste buds want.”

Instead of pork, Schmacon uses whole-muscle beef and a proprietary spice blend inspired by Bender’s delicatessen roots. The recipe is all natural and nitrate-free.

The end product results in a healthier take on a classic food. It has less calories, fat and sodium than regular bacon, but it doesn’t skimp on the taste.

“Great taste is the key,” Bender said. “At home Schmacon is an easy and delicious way to add beef to any meal. It can top a burger, wrap around vegetables or be used as a topping on potatoes or mac and cheese.”

Schmacon is available now at select retailers. To find the nearest one, visit the Schmacon website.
