Cab Driver Gets 25 Years For Sexually Assaulting Passenger
Sandeep Arora, 49, formerly of Naperville, was convicted on multiple felony counts following a six-day trial.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after he was found guilty in a six-day trial for sexually assaulting a woman who was a passenger in his cab. Sandeep Arora, 49, was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse in connection with the 2017 incident.
Arora had picked a woman and her friend from a place in Naperville on July 9, 2017, according to prosecutors. After dropping off the woman's friend, Arora sexually assaulted the woman, ripping her clothes and leaving scratches and bruises, a news release said.
Police say Arora pulled over his car and sexually assaulted the woman again. The woman was able to flee the car and hide in nearby bushes while she called for help to arrive.

“Mr. Arora committed a violent, horrific sexual assault on an innocent woman just trying to get home safely,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement. “I thank the victim in this case for her strength and courage in bringing this matter to law enforcement and for facing her attacker in open court. With this sentence, Mr. Arora will now be safely locked behind bars for a very long time where he will be unable to prey upon unsuspecting, innocent women again."
Arora must serve 19.5 years before he becomes eligible for parole.
