Cannabis In Naperville: Zoning Commission Shares Recommendations

The recommendations include guidelines for the number of recreational pot stores in the city and distances from homes and schools.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville has yet to approve the sale of cannabis within city limits, but the planning and zoning commission recently shared its zoning recommendations, should approval go through. The commission approved staff recommendations for the city council Wednesday, according to Chicago Tribune.

Among the recommendations is a limit of 250 feet between recreational cannabis stores and homes and a limit of three recreational stores within city limits. Recreational marijuana stores will have to be at least 1,000 feet from schools as well, according to the recommendations.

Naperville residents answered a referendum question on the March 17 ballot about whether the city should permit recreational marijuana stores. 53 percent of voters who responded to the referendum question said they were in favor of recreational cannabis sales in Naperville.
