Cat Dies in Naperville House Fire

No people were found inside the home, but a family dog was found alive.

A family cat was killed and a dog was injured in a Saturday morning fire that broke out on the 1200 block of Tennyson in Naperville, according to a release from the Naperville Fire Department.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they reported nothing showing from the two-story, multi-family residence. When crews got inside, they found heavy smoke throughout the residence.

A fire found burning within the kitchen was brought under control within 20 minutes. The home sustained extensive fire and smoke damage, but there was no damage to adjoining residential units.

Firefighters were unable to find any people in the house, but rescued a dog and provided first aid. They also found a cat that died.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
