Chalk Art Event Coming To DuPage Children's Museum
The event will feature chalk artists, stencil art, chalk-based physics experiments and more.

NAPERVILLE, IL — The grounds outside DuPage Children's Museum will be adorned with brightly colored sidewalk chalk creations for Chalk Art, a family-friendly event planned for Aug. 14.
Kids and grown-ups alike will have a chance to use sidewalk chalk stencils, catapult chalk across a distance and create their own paint by smashing and mixing chalk. Artists will also be on hand to bring to life colorful chalk drawings and answer questions from participants, who they'll also invite to collaborate.
“Many children and adults are familiar with sidewalk chalk, as it's been a family favorite for generations. Therefore, it can encourage family members of all ages to play and get messy together,” Cassie Coffey, the museum's Guest Experience Senior Manager said in a news release.

DuPage Children's Museum Arts and Maker Specialist Dustin Thacker called the event a "summertime tradition." Thacker said in the news release, "This event was created to spark children’s natural curiosity and to broaden their understanding of the medium. Bringing in artists to work with children and their caregivers creates a dynamic atmosphere where children can see themselves as artists and creators in new and exciting ways."
Admission to Chalk Art is included with membership or admission to DuPage Children's Museum, but advance registration is required. Admission is $15 for adults and children who are one year old or older. Seniors 59 and over get in for $14. Museum admission is free of charge for members and kids who are younger than one year old.
