Christmas Eve Fire Displaces Family From Home In Naperville
A mattress caught fire in the basement, causing the early morning blaze on Plainfield-Naperville Road.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville family was displaced from their home after a fire broke out in the basement early Christmas Eve.
Fire crews were called to the 800 block of Plainfield-Naperville Road around 6:30 a.m. for a report of a basement fire. Prior to their arrival, the residents had gotten out of the home safely.
It took firefighters less than 20 minutes to get the flames under control. They determined the blaze started after a mattress that caught fire in the home's basement.

The Red Cross is assisting the residents with housing because the home was ruled to be uninhabitable.
