Commuter Parking Permits Nixed In Naperville Amid Shift To Daily Fees
The city council approved a measure that will do away with commuter parking permits for its Metra lots by 2024.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville recently made a big change to its parking policy that will do away with permit parking for commuters as the city shifts to daily fee parking in its Metra lots. The permits will be phased out by Jan. 1, 2024.
The first phase started March 8, when the city stopped issuing new commuter permits, unless those permits were for reverse commutes. Next, Naperville officials will work to amend ordinances that will put the permit changes into effect by July.
In July, the city plans to implement a pay-by-plate model and shift its parking spaces to daily fee spaces.
