NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville Fire Department officials say "improperly discarded cooking embers" are to blame for a fire that broke out in a multi-family apartment building early Monday. The fire was reported in the 1400 block of Fairway Drive just before 12:30 a.m., according to a news release.

When fire officials got to the scene, they say they saw fire coming from the second floor of the apartment building. They then traced the fire to a common hallway on the building's third floor.

Fire officials say it took 15 minutes to put out the main fire. No firefighters or civilian were injured in the blaze and all the units were deemed habitable.
