Cops Offer Safety Tips As Kids Head Back To School In Naperville
It's the start of the 2023-24 school year, so Naperville cops are encouraging residents to take extra precautions to keep kids safe.

NAPERVILLE, IL — As kids in Naperville head back to school, police are sharing tips to help keep students safe.
Police recommend using the following tips as safety guidelines for students:
- Encourage kids to walk with a friend or group of friends
- Stay within crosswalks and obey traffic signals and crossing guards
- Check with parents or trusted grownups if approached by a stranger
- Report suspicious activity
- Know your bus number and address, along with a parent's cellphone number

- Obey traffic signals and stop completely ahead of crosswalks

- Lock cars when they are unattended
- Discuss safety tips with teen drivers
