Countdown to Spring
Mark Dwyer, from the award-winning Rotary Botanical Gardens will help The Growing Place in Aurora kick off spring on March 28, 2015

The Growing Place kickoffs their 79th year on Saturday, March 28, 2015 with a day packed full of activities to inspire and engage gardeners for another year of success in the garden.
“We are especially thrilled to welcome accomplished horticulturalist, Mark Dwyer, to our Aurora location on opening day”, said Carol Massat, co-owner of The Growing Place. Dwyer, Director of Horticulture at the award-winning Rotary Botanical Gardens in Janesville, Wisconsin, will share ideas and plants he uses and how gardeners can translate these ideas into out of the ordinary landscapes for their home gardens.
In addition, The Growing Place’s expert staff will have presentations on edible gardening at 10:00 am, planting for all season color at 1:00 pm and news from the garden world at 2:00 pm at the Aurora location. “We are also excited to offer on-site tool sharpening in Aurora this year”, says Massat. “It’s a good idea to start off the season with a nice sharp set of pruners.” The tool sharpener will be available between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm.

The Growing Place opening weekend is set for March 28th and 29th; Saturday, 9am-5pm and Sunday, 11am-5pm. Both Aurora and Naperville will offer specials and landscape design coaching sessions for a special price of $40, (regularly $60). These coaching sessions are perfect for a smaller area that needs special attention. Pre-registration is required for coaching sessions, e-mail landscape@thegrowingplace.com to schedule.
