'Major' Semi Crash Closes Part Of Route 59 In Naperville

Police say motorists should avoid the area.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A crash closed part of Route 59 near 111th Street in Naperville Wednesday evening. City officials said southbound Route 59 would be closed until the accident is cleared. The crash was reported just after 7:30 p.m.

According to Plainfield police, who described the incident as a "major crash," a semi-tractor trailer was involved in a single-vehicle crash and struck a utility pole. ComEd was on the scene and evaluating the outage, police said, and power was out in Plainfield's Champion Creek subdivision. Southbound Route 59 was closed between 111th Street and 119th Street.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area and take an alternate route.
