'Downtown Parking Viewer' Helps Naperville Shoppers Find Spots

The tool shows parking spot availability at three public garages in real time.

NAPERVILLE, IL --- Before shoppers head out to browse the stores of downtown Naperville this holiday season, they can get a headstart on finding a parking space with a new tool introduced by the city. The downtown parking viewer, which is available online, shows real-time parking conditions in three public lots throughout the city.

The tool shows available parking spots for the lots located on Van Buren Avenue, Chicago Avenue, and Water Street, according to a news release. Shoppers can also see parking trends throughout the day to get an idea what occupancy will be like when they drive downtown.

Real-time updates to the system are made via sensors in each parking garage. City officials say the downtown parking viewer also has a shortcut that can be installed in iPhones or Androids and used for quick access to the tool when you're on the go.
