Driver Killed In Crash With Semi In Naperville
Police say a driver was declared dead at the scene of the crash, which took place at Route 59 and 103rd Street Monday morning.
NAPERVILLE, IL — A driver was killed in a crash at the intersection of Route 59 and 103rd Street in Naperville Monday morning, according to police. The crash took place just after 10:30 a.m. and left the intersection closed for several hours after a second, unrelated crash took place.
Police say a preliminary investigation indicates a silver 2007 Ford Fusion crashed into the rear end of an orange 2002 Volvo semi in the northbound lanes of Route 59 near 103rd Street. The Ford driver was pronounced dead at the scene and pulled from the vehicle. The semi driver, a 58-year-old Plano man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
The identity of the Ford driver is not being released at press time, pending notification of next of kin.

While police were investigating the first crash, a car and a school bus crashed into each other in the southbound lanes of Route 59, just north of 103rd Street. Police say the second crash was not related to the first and no students were on the bus at the time of the crash.
The parties involved in the second crash refused medical treatment, police say.

The intersection remained closed just after 4 p.m. Police say no charges have been issued in the first crash, which remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is urged to contact the Naperville Police Department's traffic unit at 630-305-5477.
