DuPage County Sheriff’s Office Conducts Domestic Violence Warrant Sweep

Deputies attempted to serve more than 100 domestic violence-related warrants and served 12 no-contact orders.

Deputies with the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve more than 100 domestic violence-related warrants and served 12 no-contact orders within DuPage county on Wednesday, Oct. 19 as part of the 14th Annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail, according to a news release from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office.

While more than a dozen DuPage County deputies participated locally, hundreds of law enforcement agencies around the country also participated in the day-long detail. The collaborative effort is commonly known as SWEEP, which helps raise awareness of family and domestic violence in communities around the country.

“While many do not talk about it, domestic violence unfortunately happens every day in homes around our community and across the country,” said Major Dan McCarthy with the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office in a news release. “Programs like SWEEP are a step in the right direction to end this problem. It shows offenders that they will be held accountable for their violence.”
