Naperville Park District and the City of Naperville will work in two phases to perform preventative maintenance of approximately 600 lineal feet of the DuPage Riverway Trail, located east of the intersection of Washington Street and Redstart Road. The Park District work will begin the week of August 17 and will consist of trenching along the edge of the trail and adding a fabric element to create a root barrier system to prevent tree roots from impacting the trail in the future.

During the Park District’s phase of work, one lane of the trail will be closed. Flaggers on either end of the construction area and signage along the segment will alert trail users of the lane closure.

Phase 2 will begin after the Park District work is complete. The City of Naperville will pave the trail, which will require closing the trail for approximately two days, depending on the weather.

“We appreciate trail users’ patience as this project gets underway,” said Park District Director of Planning Eric Shutes. “This work will ensure that the trail remains safe for everyone who enjoys walking, running or bicycling along the DuPage Riverway Trail.”
