Edward Hospital Reports 57 Coronavirus Cases, 8 Deaths

NAPERVILLE, IL — Edward Hospital in Naperville is currently treating 57 patients with confirmed cases of the new coronavirus. At press time, there have been eight deaths at Edward due to coronavirus, according to hospital spokesperson Keith Hartenberger.

Tuesday afternoon, Hartenberger told Patch that a man in his 70s from DuPage County died of the virus within the past 24 hours.

Hartenberger also mentioned that six inpatients who recovered from coronavirus were released within the last 24 hours. He said that since March 24, 100 recovered coronavirus patients have been released after treatment.

Hartenberger told Patch Edward Hospital is "following the appropriate and recommended isolation precautions for COVID-19 patients." Nurses and providers who need to see the patients are wearing personal protective equipment, Hartenberger added.

Hartenberger also told Patch there is a tent set up outside of the emergency room at Edward for coronavirus patients if there is a surge in emergency patients.

He added that the need to use the tent for this hasn't come up as of press time.
