Executive Director McGury Resigns From Naperville Park District

NAPERVILLE, IL — After 13 years with Naperville Park District, Ray McGury is stepping down from his role as executive director to "pursue another opportunity," an update said.

During McGury's tenure, the Naperville Park District earned accreditation from the National Park and Recreation Association. The park district credits McGury for the completion of several "key projects that expanded District services," including the Nike Sports Complex, Knoch Knolls Nature Center, Fort Hill Activity Center 95th Street Community Plaza and Wolf's Crossing Community Park.

McGury also worked to facilitate the renovations of Sportsman's Park and Centennial Beach.

Brad Wilson, who has worked as the park district's director of Recreation and Facilities for 23 years, will replace McGury. In his current role, Wilson has helped Naperville Park District implement new registration software and has brought new programs to Frontier Sports Complex, Nike Sports Complex, Wolf's Crossing Park and Commissioner's Park, along with indoor programs to 95th Street Center, Knoch Knolls Nature Center and Fort Hill Activity Center.

In 2020, Wilson received the Community Impact Award from the Illinois Park and Recreation Association.

McGury's resignation takes effect Feb. 1 and Wilson's contract will be presented for formal approval Jan. 20.
