Fake Holiday Craft Fair Scam Under Investigation In Naperville

Police say scammers advertised a fake holiday craft fair charging vendors a $40 a day registration fee.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Police in Naperville are investigating a scam in which a fake holiday craft fair was advertised that charged vendors $40 a day as a registration fee.

The ad circulated online via social media, calling for vendors to complete an application and submit fees to take part in a craft fair at Knoch Park. The fictitious event was slated for Nov. 27 and Nov. 28, Dec. 4 and Dec. 5.

Police say the Naperville Park District told them no such event was planned for that time.

The origin of the ad is still under investigation. Police are urging business owners and vendors to inform others about the scam to prevent further people from being targeted.
