Fire Pit May Have Caused Blaze That Damaged Naperville Home

NAPERVILLE, IL — A fire pit may be to blame for a blaze that caused more than $15,000 in damage to a home in Naperville early Friday.

Firefighters were called to a two-story home in the 1300 block of Cantigny Court for a report of a fire just before 6 a.m. When fire crews got to the scene, they found that two residents and a dog had gotten out of the home safely.

Within minutes, first responders were able to put out a small fire that had ignited in the back of the home.

No one was hurt in the blaze and the home was determined to be habitable. Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, but believe it may be linked to a fire pit outside of the residence.
