Fire Tears Through Naperville Hotel, Causes $8M In Damage

A fire broke out at a Hilton on Diehl Road in Naperville late Thursday.

NAPERVILLE, IL — No one was hurt when a fire tore through a hotel on Diehl Road late Thursday, causing an estimated $8 million in damage.

The Naperville Fire Department (NFD) was called to the Tru by Hilton Naperville, 1809 Diehl Rd., around 11:20 p.m. for a report of smoke. When they got to the scene, fire crews found flames on the roof of the hotel.

Firefighters helped evacuate occupants from the building and initiated an "aggressive fire attack," according to NFD officials.

Most of the blaze was extinguished by 1 a.m., but crews remained onsite to handle smoldering spots.

The building was deemed uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
