Former Owner of Naperville Theater to be Sentenced Oct. 26 for Fraud, Tax Evasion

He failed to report $18 million in sales at his two theaters between 2009 and 2013.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A suburban theater owner will be sentenced Oct. 26 for tax evasion and fraud.

Ted Baulthaup, 59, of Woodridge, used to own the Hollywood Palms in Naperville and the Hollywood Boulevard in Woodridge, according to the Chicago Tribune. He tried to evade paying $6 million in taxes and committed fraud in his attempt. He is facing up to 15 years in prison.

Bulthaup “systematically failed to report $18 million in sales at his two theaters between 2009 and 2013. He also was accused of creating fraudulent tax returns that overstated the amount of revenue generated at the theaters, according to court files,” according to a report from the Chicago Tribune.
