Free Assistance with Medicare Open Enrollment Now Available

Naperville Park District offers free telephone or virtual appointments for seniors; open enrollment ends Dec. 7

Naperville Park District is now offering free telephone or virtual appointments with counselors from the Illinois State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) to assist with Medicare Open Enrollment. Each year, Medicare Open Enrollment occurs between October 15 and December 7.

Talking with a SHIP counselor is a great way to get information about health insurance coverage for seniors, whether new to Medicare or already enrolled. Information on health insurance coverage for seniors includes the following: Medicare A & B (hospital/doctor), Medicare C (Medicare Advantage Plans/HMO, PPO, PFFS), Medicare D (Prescription Drug Plans), Medicare Supplemental Policies (Medigap), Long Term Care Insurance and Medicaid Programs. Counselors are trained and sponsored by the State of Illinois Department on Aging. Appointments are available between 9:00 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. To register, call 630-848-5000 or use this link to book an appointment with a SHIP counselor.

Open Enrollment appointments will be 75 minutes long. If a participant does not have access to a computer or device for a Zoom appointment, SHIP volunteers can assist via telephone. This may require more than one appointment if the participant cannot access certain Medicare documents via email.
