Gas Station Sold Nicotine To Customers Under 21: Naperville Cops

Naperville police recently performed compliance checks at 77 businesses to monitor whether nicotine products were sold to people under 21.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A BP gas station in Naperville was recently cited for selling nicotine products to customers under the age of 21, according to a notification from the city.

The gas station, located at 2888 Book Rd., was the only location cited amid nicotine sales compliance checks that surveyed 77 businesses throughout Naperville. The compliance checks took place in early December and focused on cracking down on sales to underage customers.

Naperville police have been using grant money from the Illinois Department of Human Services to raise awareness about checking identification and avoiding sales of nicotine products to customers who are younger than 21 years old. The initiative includes informational packets and communication about upcoming compliance checks.
