'Ghost Baby' In Crib Gives Naperville Mom Fright

NAPERVILLE, IL — It's that time of year when things that go bump in the night sound extra scary and shadows take on eerie, apparition-like forms. One Naperville mother was frightened to the core when she spotted a "ghost baby" lying next to her sleeping child in their crib.

Maritza Elizabeth shared the chilling photo, which she observed on her baby cam, on Facebook. On the right, you see her son sleeping soundly. The figure to the baby's immediate left tells another tale.

Beside Maritza Elizabeth's baby, you can see another baby eerily lit by the baby cam. The "ghost baby's" mouth and eyes are wide open and its arms are outstretched skyward.

She wrote that she tried to creep into the room with a flashlight to confront the "ghost baby" and had a difficult time sleeping.

The next morning, Maritza Elizabeth went into the baby's room to do some paranormal investigating of her own. She discovered the "ghost baby" was an image on the mattress and that her husband had forgotten to put the mattress protector back on.

"I could kill him," she said at the end of her post, which has been shared more than 300,000 times.

She told Patch, "We’re just so overwhelmed by the response our little ghost story has gotten. Never in a million years did we see this coming. We’re just happy to spread some laughter! Even if it is at my expense."
