Gun, Cannabis Seized After Woman Shoved Into Car In Naperville: Cops

NAPERVILLE, IL — A man is being held on $1 million bond after Naperville police say he they found bags of cannabis and a loaded gun in his car. Terrell Maclin-Dupree, 25, was arrested Thursday after police were called to the 7-Eleven at 1663 Rte. 59 for a report that he had shoved a woman into his car.
Authorities say Maclin-Dupree was on probation at the time for two aggravated unlawful use of a weapon charges in Cook County.
When police got to the scene they approached Maclin-Dupree's car and report smelling cannabis coming from the vehicle. Police say they asked Maclin-Dupree to get out of the car, at which time they say he removed a satchel and threw it into into the car's backseat.

Prosectors say officers found cannabis on Maclin-Dupree, in addition to more bags of cannabis in the satchel he had removed. Police also reported finding a .22-caliber pistol in the bag. According to a news release, the pistol had a spent shell casing in its barrel and three rounds in its magazine.
"It is alleged that Mr. Maclin-Dupree, a convicted felon currently on probation for two unlawful use of a weapon charges, was illegally in possession of a loaded handgun," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement. "For the second time this week my office has filed weapon possession charges against an individual who is forbidden by law to possess a firearm. The $1 million bond set by Judge O’Connell sends the message that career criminals are going to be held accountable in DuPage County."

Maclin-Dupree was arrested and charged with armed habitual criminal and unlawful use of a weapon — prior conviction.
He is set to appear in court on Aug. 4.
