Handgun With 49 Rounds Of Ammo Stashed By Teen Fleeing Cops In Downtown Naperville: Park District PD
Naperville Park District Police mentioned the arrest during the park district's June 25 board meeting.
NAPERVILLE, IL — Police say a 16-year-old was arrested June 24 in downtown after he dropped a fanny pack containing a handgun equipped with a drum with 49 rounds of ammunition. The teen was stopped by park district police as he fled Naperville police officers.
Naperville Park District Police Chief Steve Schindlbeck brought up the arrest during his recap of park district police activity at the June 25 Naperville Park District Board meeting.
During the meeting, Schindlbeck said a member of the park district police department "apprehended a 16-year-old kid that the Naperville police were chasing on foot downtown."

"A subsequent search of his path, prior to being caught, yielded a fanny pack that he had disposed of in a garbage can in a parking deck," Schindlbeck said. "The handgun actually had a rum on it with 49 rounds of ammunition."
Naperville police did not immediately respond to Patch's request for more information Tuesday morning.
