NAPERVILLE, IL — You might love the food, but sometimes the restaurants you visit aren’t always the cleanest places. And sometimes they are. You can know for sure with a health inspection report.
The DuPage County Health Department visited Lou Malnati’s for a routine inspection March 8.
Items out of compliance were:
- Bar dish machine rinse cycle chlorine concentration at <50ppm chlorine. Maintain at 50 to 200ppm.
- Bowl of croutons stored uncovered on top of salad prep cooler.
- Dish machine scullery sprayer repaired using tape.
- Basement walk in cooler shelving unit rusted.
- Flour grout low throughout kitchen.
- Basement store room floor tiles damaged.
The restaurant received a demerit score of 10. Demerit scores start at zero and increase as violations are observed. This is the sum of the weight (Wt) of each item marked.

A re-inspection the next month showed the business does not have test strips to test for bleach sanitizer. The re-inspection was for the bar dish machine, which had a high enough chlorine concentration.
