Hurricane Harvey Help: Naperville Mayor Invites Residents To Community Meeting
Find out how to help and how to avoid scams.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico is inviting residents to a community meeting at 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31 to local community efforts to respond to the ongoing Hurricane Harvey disaster in Houston and the southeast coast of Texas. The meeting will take place in the City Council Chambers of the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St.
Hosted by Chirico and Naperville resident Susan Koranda, a member of the Advisory Board for the Chicago Salvation Army and volunteer with the Salvation Army and Red Cross, the event will discuss best practices in disaster relief giving, how to avoid scams, the importance of long-term relief efforts and how Naperville residents can best help in the immediate aftermath of Harvey.

“While we all want to do as much as possible as soon as possible, as a community we should make sure we are helping in a way that gives the greatest support to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey," Chirico added. "This gathering is a way for us to coordinate our efforts in a meaningful way that meets the most pressing needs of those who have suffered great losses in Texas. I encourage everyone to attend.”
